What is energy flexibility

Through distributed private resources located in the territory, such as storage systems, cogeneration, and generators, it is possible to dynamically modulate loads to meet the new demands of the electrical system.

These virtuous actions such as Load Shifting or Peak Shaving coordinated by aggregators and flexibility service providers BSP contribute not only to balancing the power grid but also to reducing CO2 and increasing economic revenues.

The markets currently operational are ARETI with RomeFlex UNARETI with MindFlex and E-distribuzione with EDGE and represent an important opportunity for prosumers sector operators and renewable energy communities to participate in the markets by providing flexibility services and generating new economic opportunities.

The flexible resources that can participate in Local Flexibility Markets are:

Any cogeneration or production asset
Generators
Charging stations with load management capabilities in smart charge or V2G mode
Heat pumps and boilers
Residential and industrial storage systems
Programmable storage
Modulable users (appliances water heaters heat pumps...)
Home storage batteries
Other flexible loads capable of dynamically varying the response (Smart Demand Response)

Use cases and benefits

In addition to promoting a high-impact mechanism for reducing CO2 in the electrical system users with flexible resources participating in these markets will have the opportunity to receive very attractive economic compensation.

Fixed rewards up to 60,000 €/year for each MW of capacity made available
Variable rewards for the energy exchanged with the DSO up to five times the current PUN value (400€/MWh)

But how to participate and how much can you earn

To participate you need to register your resource on the FlexyGrid platform which as a Balancing Service Provider is responsible for registering and aggregating the resources that wish to participate in Local Flexibility Markets.
